How to reset my usb ports as its now upto 255 - GSM-Forum

whenever I install anything it says the next very high ,,,,ie 255

If I look in device manager and enable view hidden , I can see all my devices from 1 to 24 then the next ones are from 240 to 255

Im guessing its probably s/e & samsung fones etc that have assigned a new port everytime they were connected

How can I reset / get rid of all these unused ports ?

no need to get rid of them mate (it has been asked before, i think no one knows in any case).

when you install a new USB device, it will tell you "virtual com 255" etc

just right click this device, select properties and change its port number to a lower one.

you can over write the old ports, as long as your not using them

or use this this SHOW all hidden devices after u press with keyboard and DELETE its.. (hidden devices blur)
