I believe that unlocking business is illegal in all Europe.

That's not true, England , Poland , Slovakia , Chech Rep. etc etc. - allowed
and for e.g. in Hungary - forbidden

Here in Germany it´s allowed also to unlock, in some cases also IMEI changing, if you have the labels and you can male some special test with the phone.

There unlocking can't be forbiden, because this is equal to be locking / maded by service providers / also outlaw ... for IMEI change there is a reason - mostly because IMEI change is related to stoled units washing ... even there also can be discused - IMEI tracking make peoples freedom limited...

Thanks for all posts
I was just curious because in one British news paper Dejan Kaljevic was called with name like a member of unlocking gang. So if unlock is not forbiden by law in England then they have no rights to call him like member of gang.

Thanks.

In the UK, having your mobile phone unlocked and that means not unblocked(IMEI Changing) is your "consumer right". So it is perfectly fine to unlock phones. The artical above in which Nokia say Unlocking is master minded by criminal gangs is just a way to scare the public, so that they buy a new handset instead of making use of an existing one.
