K600, k608 ALWAYS on 3G BAND - GSM-Forum

When are we gona have a fix for this problem..... at the moment this is the same situation as like unlocking nokia 7600 by code only (cant select network mode)

So .....very much no point in unlocking these since they always try and pickup 3g network.... works fine with 2g card where a 3g signal for the samer network does not exist!!

There is no menu on the phone for manual band operation wich renders it useless if you dont have a 3g card.

with the 2g card in you can go to the network menu and select the 2g for that network and woks fine but after 10 seconds if the phone is not making a call it relocks its self to the 3g signal for that network if available and no longer makes or receives calls....this is a major problem!!

i know i got the same problem
but we cannot do anything , i hope that there r 2g flash files availible for them

Unfortunately only answer seems to be to buy other software, I have same problem with USB-Smart, Zulea doesnt seem to care. My friend has another shop and uses Cruiser, there is the facility in Cruiser to activate 2G/3G, so until I buy Cruiser, I have to send my K608's to him to do.

Whell.... this causes a real problem since 3g pay as you go sims are practically non existente.

I am really amazed that Zulea has not taken care to sort this yet

I dont think I am asking for something major on this but in the uk this is a problem since just about all networks here now offer both services (2g/3g).

As far as Im concerned in regards to k608 unlocking as it is its out of the question at the moment since in doing so I resolve one problem but it leaves me with another..... With USB-smart this might as whell be considered a partial unlock only.

C'mon Zulea..... Get this sorted please!

Besides.... this is my only problem with it and it shouldent be hard to make an update for this.... as long as someone is bothered to do so

i wasn't being funny mate, but i have usb-smart/cruiser/setool and hwk and they are all good at some things and bad at others. this problem only happens on k608i, v600 are ok. with cruiser you you just enable 2g/3g menu and with setool you just write a script.

Hi,

Just unzip attached file, goto Repair -> Write GDFS File, select unzipped Enable_2G_3G_Selection_Menu.gdf file and write to phone.

PLEASE report your result.

If you really want to help (others, not me) can you post here the script used in setool (just to check my created GDFS file).

I have left the k600 (ex 608i) with a customer to have a go with his orange card and try around town that has 3g orange to see if its any good for him....had previously sold the phone to someone else but they had t-mobile and it was useless on a 3g area..... will go aorund later and try these scripts and post report.... thanks James and Zulea.... much apreciated even if it will be only for the efford

T-Mobile seems to be the worst, ALL PAYG sims will have the problem, with Orange, if the sim is new it seems to be 50-50 if it will work, same with some o2. Voda is the only Network where all sims will work 2G/3G.

So there is a 50% chance your Orange customer might be OK without the 2G/3G menu enabled.

Lets hope that the GDFS script will work.
