Need help with TP- First time at carrying out TP


I am trying to imei patch w550i and have found the tp but can't seem to sucsessfuly ground it.

I am wearing rubber soled ***** and i manually handle and use a needle to ground tp but no sucsess????????

Any help will be aprechiated.........its my first attempt at testpoint

are you for real??? try putting your other finger in the ground pin of your mains socket, that may work!

the easiest way to do all testpoints, motorolas,ericssons etc is to use a power supply to power the phone and connect a probe to the neg and use that for the doing the testpoint. i've done 100's without one single problem. soldering wires is asking for trouble.

Ok, is their some time of equipment specially desighed to carry out test point or could you point me in the right direction with regards to.... what to get??

no, the testpoint is normally a through hole or metal pad on the phone pcb, just connect ther probe to it.

ok, i just done a search on e-bay and see what you are on about....................thing is i am a newbie to elecronics.....so if i purchase a bench power supply.......would i connect + to + on phone and - to tp??

you do not have to use a power supply but its easier with, and i already had one which i made. the cables are just normal 4mm cables with banana plugs, then get some ic clips from rs/farnell/maplin etc and any test probe.
