Strange 8380 - GSM-Forum

Hi,

Need some help please. I have a 8380 which was locked to 3-UK, not the first, i unlocked it with USB-Smart like i did all the others, but strangely this one accepts a 2g sim, but does not pick up network, however on 3 it does. Also, with a 2g card, if you do a manual search, it only picks up 3g networks. The phones original firmware was 10d, i have flashed it with 10b Italy and 10c HK, still no luck.

Could someone please guide me as to where i am going wrong, many thanks.

may be is not a software problem!

The phone is brand new and the funny part is that it does detect the network, but only the 3g ones, not the nornal. Also, when i put in a 3 card the phone works fine.

Your u8380 seems to have a hardware problem. This Error normally occured with u8120 and u8130 series and the repair centres replaced the mainboard of each device.

Can you find an 2G Networks with your 3 USIM in it?

first check if the 2g sim u inserted is 64k. most of the 2g sim are 16k or 32k, but for 3g u need to use 64k. otherwise there comes problem for network.
