v1071_japan_unlocked HAS answering machine. to get to the settings press Menu, 9

about reprovisioning. you have to have it done.

2 ways:

1. flash euro or chinese, then do master reset with sim card inside. flash back to japanese, put in same sim and DO NOT DO MASTER RESET. (this is my phone)

2. send your phone to www.umobile.com , for a fee, he will flash no-repro firmware to your phone and send it back.

the best firmware to use for your 903, that USBSMART has on support, is japan_2006_unlocked. it might not have repro, but it might. if it does, do way #1 to remove it.

--edit--

gwaai is right as well. i havent checked the 2006_japan_unlocked after master reset because i am too scared to do the master reset. if it doesnt work i have to flash everything again = 1.5hrs.

When I flash to the japan firmware now, it say that the reception is " close" or something like that. There is no longer any signal bar? I am using usb-smart with sharp v5.0 with japan 1071 unlocked. ( I can never get the unlocked 1071 japan 2006 to work). Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I fully charge the battery already.

hmm, thats odd. i have an october phone and i used teh 2006 file without problems.

from what I can tell.. the older 903 firmware is exactly the same as the 2006 version. so dont worry about it.

i think i might do a master reset and check for repro tonight. if it comes iw ill report to u and reflash

yup.. it is strange because Zulea posts say you can.But I try many times and no success. And also is there a a procedure you need to do before you change firmware. Like I try the 1071 jap unlocked before and it unlocked alright. But now I reload it , usb-smart gives me a error. Do certain firmware need to be loaded before you can load the one you want? This is really odd.

In normal version of jap firmware is this file too:
SH903_v1071_JAPAN_FS_2800.ssw

So, for a more 'faster' solution in future, flash the 5 files (part1...5) from 2006_UNLOCKED + this file: SH903_v1071_JAPAN_FS_2800.ssw (totaly 6 files), and should work.

so the 2006 version is just to make it easier for everyone? or is there actually a difference in the firmware?

2006_UNLOCKED do NOT contains flash part from address 0x28000000 with length 0x1FC0000 (~32 MBytes file). This for 'faster' flashing when unlock. This part contains FS of phone and usualy not need to be flashed. And this part of flash is in file SH903_v1071_JAPAN_FS_2800.ssw and seems need to be flashed in some phones (JAP). EURO and CHINA seems have not problems if not flash this part.

i see. i have a customer who bought a november phone and until these new 2006_unlocked files came out, I couldnt get rid of the re-pro.

his phone was flashed to euro_2006 then to japan_2006 and it worked perfectly. i guess the fs_2800 file was flashed to this phone in the nov_unlocked file that I used a few months ago.

I have tryed Flash 5 files(part1...5) and 6 files(part1..5+...FS_2800) that results is same sa below:
1. use Japan Vodafone SIM card power on work well
2. use Chian SIM card power on, not problem

3. use Japan DoCoMo SIM card power on shut off
4. use Hong Kong SIM card power on shut off

My phone is Japan 2006/1. I Flash EURO_2006 and SX833_Chian_2006 all no problem work well
