An oscilloscope is only useful if you know how to use it properly and there are available schematics or a working board to compare a faulty board.

Have frequency generator and oscilloscope but i never really use it ... My handy tools are Cheap tinny multimeter and lab power supply .... You can check dead processor on Power supply if PWR Button OK and no power consumption after press 99% CPU fault ...If low power consumption between 10-80mAh then Boot or software ...to much time consuming to use oscilloscope and hardly needed as if you don't get TX you won't get RX so if you have output but no reception it is IMEI or BASEBAND ....It is really faster to just check frequency filters for output than connecting osciloscope ... If you have bad reception like 1 bar where you should get 4 you can check with osciloscope as maybe diplexer switch can be broken but if you have expirience you can simply solder new and see how it goes .... for old phones like 3310,3210,6310 you could simply jumper diplexer and see if signal is ok ...Not many new phones get problems with FREQUENCY ... But if they do for example if quartz is bad you can just use STOPER and check if time is correct usually within minute if there a big time difference QUARTZ is the problem ...
