hi,

nice joke, this tool is not working....
after write dongle, unplug&plug still regular PKD-1...
also I noticed R&D dongles are 6 digit 2xxxxx while regular PKD-1 is 5 digit,
no sure PKD-1 5 digit can be activated to R&D

long time ago, since NOKIA release PKD-x by use the 3ASIC, i did research ,
and most time "xor" is one so much use at the eeprom !
you can try to do it from "serial" number !

now, for me to have "5 or 6" digits PKD-x, it same !!
it all can be make any PKD-XX what i like !

try to do "xor" !

My 5 digits pkd-1 now become the PKD-1R&D, it works 100%.

Just RunThe software, after writing done, unplug, and plug it again (Reboot the Motorola MCU). Then 100% working.

Your EEPROM in your PKD-1 is low supplyed (under voltage) and depend of EEPROM used chip/manufacturer it can not perform write operation.
You can try on very old PC (who give 5 volts levels on LPT and not 3.3 volts) or change EEPROM in your dongle with a low voltage one.
Another way is to supply all PKD-1 hardware (MCU + EEPROM) from external power supply with 5 volts. Check PKD-1 schematics to see where to cut wires and to supply voltage.

Best regards,
Zulea

from the Treo pictures I saw he had a 6 digit dongle 2xxxxx,
uhmm, I am checking my dongle when having little time, perhaps I run low on voltage

thanks Zulea for the hint!
