i use aouye 968 (it is listed in the ebay link).

i pay a lot less than £140 tho, from china direct

dual rework, hot air and SMT iron with fume extraction

i think i paid around £60-80 inc tax, it was a nice deal

MY advise if
1-buy scrap boards to be familiar with the componants
2-Read and browes the hardware problem and members discussions

if you find yourself intrested and it is o.k go on and ask for the tools you should have .

thanks 4 ur reply, i have many scrap/faulty main boards faults range from faulty joysticks to "not charging" etc. i have read this forum and searched for the correct starting equipment for a beginner and i have come up with the following 2 tools.

http://www.amazon.com/Aoyue-950+-Fun.../dp/B000KSPWFK

http://www.amazon.com/Aoyue-968-Digi...5?ie=UTF8&s=hi

hope 2 get both from the uk

dont go for the 950 mate, u will never use it. its basically a soldering iron with two tips. only used for replacing SMD packaged resistors, capacitirs, power switches.

u can do all that with a standard soldering iron (or two soldering irons at the same time if you must)

the 968 is what i would recomend, for sure.

i have used some cheap stations at my old work place and they are not so good as the aoyue i have at home.

Another very important thing: learn the basics of electronics. There are some mobile phone repair tutorials on this site too. Best of luck!
