It's basically the same as the unlocking cable, but pin4 is linked to pin1, and pin 10 is connected via a buffer to DTR.

I am trying to use GD92 unlocking chinese cable for GD87
The pinout is similar to what you said, but I can't make it work with any of the unlocking/flashing software. Software doesn't see the phone

1 and 10 - Gnd
7 Tx
8 Rx

it's built on MAX232

did something like this occur to anyone?

gd92 unlock cable
-----------------
keypad up
-----------
1 2 3.......14

pin1 ,5, 14 -gnd
pin7- transmit data
pin8- receive data
pin9- Power output from phone to be used for giving power to max232c chip
pin 10- to be connected to DTR ( thru max232 c .. signal inverted )

It works as unlock cable and data cable if pin 4 grounded instead of pin5

I hope you make the corrections

Enjoy !

As I understand pin 1 is audio Gnd and is connected in the phone with 14 Gnd
so 1 can be left out

I have 4 cables like this marked GD92, It can't be a factory defect on all 4 of them???...

After 24 hours of sweating and swearing I finally did it

chinese cable, marked as GD92
Here is what I had:
1, 10 - Gnd
7 Tx
8 Rx
Here is what it became
1, 4 - Gnd
7 Tx
8 Rx

It now unlocks GD87

for unlock cable you dont require pin 10 .. to be connected ...
unlock cable
-----------
pin1,5,14 -gnd
pin7-tx
pin8-rx

check it with channel box 2000 software ..

data cable
----------
pin 1,4,14-gnd
pin7-tx
pin8-rx
pin10- ( inverted output of max232c from DTR as input)

I used several cables and tested it with APDs ( all phone data suite )

I hope this makes life simpler ...
