Can you help me - I have a GD87, firmware A21 which has been unlocked. It is currently rebooting, turning itself off etc. Would updating the firmware stop this problem? Is it ok to do it on an unlocked phone? Orange say it can't be updated

Finally do I just upgrade to A51 or do I need upgrades in between?

upgrade to latest version should sort your problem no need to use others anythhing before a22 very buggy.FLASHING FONE CAN KILL BE CAREFULL!
make sure nothing tries to adress serial/usb port whilst flashing.
