ENG-ROOT (Boot) dependency of Android main version

I have G955F Eng root (boot) file. I known this G955F eng root extracted from Bootloader rev.1 and was Android 7.0 ENG-root file.

After Android 8.0 release and keep BL rev.1 , Can I use / compatible this Android 7.0 ENG-ROOT on G955F Android 8.0 binary?

How about dependency between ENG-ROOT file and Android Main version?

** Additional question: I googled and downloaded G955F-ENG-ROOT file which not tripped KNOX flag in their description.

I tried this ENG-root file flash to my personal G955F phone which phone using Google account(surely FRP locked),

But my phone said in Odin mode : Custom binary blocked by FRP LOCK



One doubt , if this ENG-root file is really official samsung ENG-ROOT file, i think this official ENG-root can flash even though FRP LOCK is enabled.

Any signed data could be flashed through Odin FULL FLASH , COMBINATION FILE

But custom binary its UNSIGNED code

FRP BLOCK any UNSIGNED code flashing , caused by OEM LOCK ( bootloader lock )

When OEM its unprotected , then you can flash unsigned data , but this feature is intended for developers to run unsigned code such as , twrp , cwm , etc ( custom recovery’s ) , for flashing custom roms , modify fs , rom cooking ....

Then , if you have OEM unlock , you can get access to hole bussines , but if you have OEM lock , then you can only play with signed data , backdoors, forensic hw

Thanks for your detail explanation of Official file and Custom file.
I known that currently we have only G930 / G935 qualcomm model has REAL eng-root(kernel).
Hope to more G950/G955/N950 Qualcomm/Exynos eng-root files also release soon.
