Ok guys so I had to kind of rig the root to get this to work.
First you are going to need the 5.1.1 firmware

GUIDE IS ONLY FOR 5.1.1 FIRMWARE!!!

DOWNLOAD HERE

WARNING!!! Using this method will soft brick your device
PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY HARD BRICKS!!!

Download the firmware and extract it.

Next download Kingo Root APK directly to your phone.

Enable USB Debugging and Enable Diag Mode *#0808#

Next Root your phone using the Kingo Root APK

VERY IMPORTANT!!! DO NOT REBOOT AFTER ROOT IS COMPLETE

Connect it to Z3x and Proceed with the unlock.

Once it reboots the phone it will be stuck on a bootloop.

Thats ok as long as z3x has a chance to pick up the device.

make sure that it reconnects to Z3x and you should see it reset the MSL etc..

Once that process is done you will see it failed to unlock.

if you did everything correctly when you put in a non supported sim it should not reject.

Now your phone will be permanently unlocked.

To get out of the bootloop, put the phone in download mode and flash the firmware I provided.

UNLOCK INSTRUCTIONS:
Phone must be rooted!
If the software can't root the phone automatically,
then you must root your device manually.
1. Power on the phone.
2. Enable 'USB debugging' in 'Settings'-'Developer options' for Android 4.0 - 4.1.2 or
tap 7 times on 'Build number' in 'Settings'-'About phone' to enable 'Developer options' in Android 4.2+.
3. Connect the phone to PC with USB cable, install drivers if needed.
4. Select device in ADB settings.
5. Press 'Unlock' button for direct unlock.

Operation: Unlock
