SM-J320A 3a security hmac mismatch [Solved] - GSM-Forum

Came across a similar thread today and I recall it being an issue in a thread recently...and there was no clear answer. Only point in multiple directions and nothing concise so figured I would post my experience.

phone was running a binary 1 firmware, failed with Security damaged (hmac mismatch).

upgraded to J320AUCS3AQG1 and flashed lower modem to read codes (yes I took the long way here I am aware).

still Security damaged (hmac mismatch), see log. I figured it would be, but wanted to try...

code reads will still fail with combo!
the old read will still show Security damaged (hmac mismatch) and new code read will not show because of no root on phone

run manual unlock (not new)

already try all method finaly unlock done with same security S3 by selecting SM-J120A READ CODES NEW or unlock new

j320a was my model. j120a flash eng boot and root, then new unlock or read codes new.

root not required? Just flash downgrade modem and read code new under j120a...interesting. I never would have thought to do that.

just flash the modem from the rev3 combo file then do unlock (not new unlock)
