I've also read somewhere that you can "flash" some parameters in download mode to activate the diag port. I'll post it if I find it again.
Not sure if you could "flash" these in download mode, instead of entering it through root shell:

echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/lg_diag_cmd/diag_enable
setprop sys.usb.config acm,diag,mtp,adb

Also it might be posssbile to trigger the "activity" corresponding to these keypad commands:

Andrew problem is with ATT Firmware been signed, can't find any where factory file.
and my devices most of them are bad lcd can't even reset using combination key, and looking at delete all personal data.
