You read news before write post?
I test in user using team viewer. Yes we can repair imei without root. No need unlock bootloader.

We plain rewrite helps in LG software. I this in next month we make this.

P.S. I not see problem if you press unlock and software write in log: phone must be rooted, the you must root phone.
