You should post the new IMEI number or at least just the last 4 digits to show it actually worked. Since the part:

"Write IMEI 1 OK
Write IMEI 2 OK
Repair done!"

Does not really mean anything. I have done V10 phones where it says, "write IMEI OK Repair done!" but IMEI came out at 000000000000000 even after performing the IMEI "0" procedure.

With that being said, I can confirm that IMEI repair is possible using the Z3X tool. I just did it differently several days ago after receiving my new to me Nexus 5X phone model H790.

Using H968 model number, I backup security incase anything bad happens then I can go back. Next, I backup QCN file and then edit this file with new IMEI number. Next Reset Security in phone and then write new QCN into the phone. This will do the IMEI repair on the Nexus 5X phone. This method actually works on a lot of LG phones when standard 1 click IMEI repair does not work. I have done this even with a Xiaomi Mi4 phone but that is another story--yes IMEI repair of a Xiaomi Mi4 phone using z3x box Lg Tools.

I was able to reset FRP in download mode, now need to do IMEI repair. How to enable port? I have tried all the usual codes with no luck.

Andrew, thanks for the info and I have used this command on other LG phones to enable the diag port. On the Nexus 5x (running 7.0) there is no lg_diag_cmd folder under sys/device/platform , so command fails. I searched for diag_enable and no results anywhere on the phone. Any other ideas?

I haven't done one of these in a while. Unplug phone, you need to load the qualcomm USB driver (different from the LG driver). Make sure USB debugging is on and select the the Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostic 903D driver (if you don't load the Qualcomm driver, you won't see this). then just repair imei as you normally would.
