havent been able to root it.

gb universal v11 -> no go
unlockroot -> no go
gb universal v9 -> no go
aceGingerroot -> no go

If I cannot root it... cannot unlock it.

suggestions?

I've rooted a I8160 following xda dev forum instructions, but Z3x can't unlock it. Here is the log:

Count supported models - 309
Android Version: 2.3.6
Model: GT-I8160
Product Code: GT-I8160OKAXEC
Phone Version: I8160BGLE2
PDA Version: I8160BGLE2
CSC Version: I8160XECLE2
IMEI: Unknown
Checking ROOT... TRUE

Done with Samsung Tool ver 12.5

Please try with latest 12.6 but I think you need to downgrade first to gingerbread 2.3.5 .....

No, it has to be rooted and I cannot find any rooting guide for this model.
None of the kernels work, nor the gb universal update/rooting.
Guess somewhere somebody will release the rooting files.

2) Copy update_su.zip to internal sdcard.

3) Switch off the phone and enter to download mode ("Vol Down + Home + Power").
Wait until the driver will be installed and Odin will recognize the phone!

4) Flash I8160XXLD8_ready_to_root_ANT.tar.md5 using Odin as PDA part.

5) Turn off the phone again and enter to recovery mode ("Vol Up + Home + Power").

6) Select "apply update from sdcard" and choose update_su.zip file

7) Reboot the phone
