Member: 1900437 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 113 | Yes you can !! there is no problem in updating sammy p5100 . Go on but on the updating process have caution as this could brickup your tablet. Let me share you the information on how to root and install 4.1.2 update or you can also update to 4.2.2.on your P5100: I'll be taking example of 4.2.2 update : 1. Download the latest Firmware (XXDMH1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean). 2. Extract the downloaded file and get a file with .tar.md5 extension plus some other supplementary files. 3. Next download the Odin v3.07 from here. Extract the downloaded Odin zip file and make sure that you get Odin3 v3.07.exe and few suplimetarly files. 4. Power off the Galaxy Tab 2 tablet, completely. (to make sure the tablet is completely turned off wait about six or seven seconds for receive a vibration that confirm complete turn off. 5. Boot the Galaxy Tab 2 device into Download Mode ( to do this press and keep holding the Volume Down and the Power buttons in the same time until an Android robot draw with some constructions elements and a warning triangle is displayed. Now press the Volume Up button to continue the Download Mode option. 6. Run the ODIN app from your PC by running the Odin3 v3.07 as Administrator. Now, connect the tablet to the PC by using the USB cable while the device is in Download Mode. 7. Odin now must detect the Galaxy device, when the device is successfully connected the ODIN app will display the ADDED message under the ODIN message box on its interface. Also, when the connect ion is done the ID:COM box with the COM port number in Odin will be collared blue that indicate the connection is established, and you can move to the next step. 8. When all the steps from above are successfully passed, select the following extracted files from the P5100XXDMH1 folder to install the new Android 4.2.2 firmware on the tablet: From ODIN click the PDA button, then browse and select the file with .tar.md5 extension From ODIN app click the Phone button, then browse and select the file with Modem word in its name, skip this step if there is not any file with this specification. From the ODIN app click the CSC button, then browse and select file that contains CSC word in its name skip this step if there isn’t any file like this. 9. Click the PIT button and select the .pit file if there is any file like this, if not skip this step. 10. Important: Make sure that the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes from ODIN are selected and the Re-Partition option is unchecked; check the Re-partition option only a .pit file is loaded previously. 11. Now, verify once again all the above settings and steps to correspond such as descriptions. 12. Press Start button in ODIN app. 13. The installation process immediately will begin, and it will take few minutes to complete all the file installation, so be patient. 14. When the flashing process is done, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will restart automatically. Also, a PASS message will be displayed with a green background; that’s means the installation is completely done. Disconnect the USB cord from the PC. That's all now you can use you tablet and you can also verify by going onto Settings>About tablet. |
