T580 error reading PIT - ROM 7.0 T580XXU3BRF1 [Answered]

Hello,
i've already posted, but maybe wasn't clear. (I have since read above why I'm not getting answers...)

So I'll take it step by step.

When I try to flash (with Z3X box & samsung pro tool v33.8) a SM-T580 with ROM 7.0 T580XXU3BRF1 (seen in recovery mode) I systematically get error when trying to read PIT.

Download mode says FRP is on. However, I cannot get ADB on (to turn off FRP), so I tried to flash with combination file, but crash on pit read. In fact, even without trying to flash, simply asking a PIT read returns error and tablet reboots.

I'm no guru but I've tried about all the methods I could find to remove FRP but they don't work on this recent ROM and I don't know why I systematically crash when trying to read pit. This keeps me from flashing a boot img that has ADB on or would allow a FRP workaround (i.e. flashing older rom).

So first things first, any idea why PiT read crashes (and tablet reboots immediatly) ???

Can anyone please help me ?

i have Z3X box and ODIN as tools.

The T580 is not rooted, ADB isn't on and update and factory reset were done although the device wasn't in usb debug mod, and of course the google account that was used on the tablet is lost/forgotten.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Firstly, what is displayed in RP rev? You can find this on the odin download mode screen and this will determine what binary bit firmwares you can flash. You can only flash on that same number or higher.

Also this will help you a lot, check what AP version is displayed in recovery mode. This is shown in the text top left of the screen on the recovery menu.

Remember that T580XXU3BRF1 the number marked in red text is your binary bit for the firmware.

If you got binary bit 2, you can easily find 6.0.1 marshmallow firmware to flash on the device from updato.com website.

Hi Benjamen50 !

First thank you for replying

When I boot to download mode, screen says this :

ODIN MODE
DOWNLOADSPEED: FAST
PRODUCT NAME: SM-T580
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
FRP LOCK: ON <<< MY NIGHTMARE!!
Secure Download : Enabled
WARRANTY VOID: 0 (0X0000)
RP SWREV: B:3 K:0 S:1

When I boot in Recovery Mode, i get this information :

Android Recovery
samsung/gtaxlwifixx/gtaxlwifi
7.0/NRD90M/T580XXU3BRF1
user/release-keys
{.../... menu ../..}

At bottom of recovery screen :

No support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3

#Manual MODE v1.0.0#
--Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : XEF <<<< YUP, I'M IN FRANCE !
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

Successfully verified for dmverity hash tree
E: failed to find /misc partition

Sooo...
Binary bit = 3

I've already found files to flash, but can't flash because PIT read error & FRP is on... any idea how to fix the PIT read error ?

This is what happens in Samsung Pro tool with Z3X when I try to flash :

Operation: Flash
Selected model: SM-T580
Software version: 33.8

File analysis... OK
Total file size: 0x001A6110 (1 Mb)
Searching USB Flash interface... COM9 detected
Setup connection... OK
Reading PIT from phone... error <<<phone reboots immediately to normal mode

Done with Samsung Tool PRO v.33.8

Where to go from here ? How to get PIT read to work ?

Thanx for helping out

if anyone wants to test a file that might enable adb on the bit 3
let me know

once adb is enabled we can run the command line to remove frp

then flash original stock files after google is gone

This is still unsolved. I've tried all the tutos on frp bypass, dont work on this rom & cannot downgrade.

With Droidhotspot, we've tried flashing modified roms, but still a no go.

I'd say, the more the merrier... if there are any droid-genius guys out that that care to take a crack at getting this pinned down, I'm pretty sure it'll help lots of others that are blocked with similar problem. (I doubt being the only one with this prb...). I doubt that it's specifically hardware related, but rather that the latest rom has a new twist on frp locking / google account login.

And all of this because an unknowing user simply followed the update message on her tablet, no warning that she should have gone into settings & do neccessary USB debugging and OEM unlock... and most of all, not warning that she'd need to remember her google account (which of course was long forgotten!!)

I'm pretty sure this case is gonna come up again & again... would be nice if droid savvy folks (which I'm not) dived in and gave a helping hand.

Thanks in advance.

To SP. Are you flashing your tablet with USB cable directly connected to Z3x box?

yes. I'm using the usb port of the box.
I can successfully flash Combination file using Odin and of course the normal rom too., using Odin.
I'm willing to pay for remote service, this tablet is kinda driving me crazy.
I seriously doubt that I have a hardware problem... it's a recent tablet.

Thanks for answering everyone. But I'm still trying to find a solution on this one.

OMG... Do not use box for flashing phones! Plug cable with phone to PC, not to the box !
You're the second person in forum who did it...

When using ODIN, I plug the phone straight to the PC.
When using the Samsung Pro Tool, I put the box inline.
I'm still stumped on the FRP lock. Tried all the tutos I could find, not valid on this new ROM.

Again, DO NOT USE box as USB port for phones flashing!
What is the name of combination file that you're using?

Hi Ribbentrop and thank you for the tip. Indeed, works lots better when not going thru box at all...

I'm using this Combination file : COMBINATION_FA60_T580XXU3ARG1_CL10816856_QB1882831 4_REV00_user_mid_noship

I get ADB "on" in this factory binary mode.

I did the "Reset FRP" and got this :
Waiting ADB device... OK
Reading phone info...
Model: SM-T580
Android version: 6.0.1
PDA version: FA60_T580XXU3ARG1
CSC version:
Phone version:
Product code:
CSC country code:
CSC sales code:
Phone SN: R52K310WDHJ
IMEI:
HW version:
RF cal date:
Chip name: EXYNOS7870
Modem board:
Security patch: 2016-05-01
Boot Warranty bit: 0
Bypass FRP... OK
For complete reset FRP, goto 'Backup and reset' and make 'Factory data reset'
Done with Samsung Tool PRO v.33.8

But when I reboot to Downoad mode to flash ROM, I still see FRP Lock: On

What am I missing ?

Is there something more to do before flashing normal ROM ?

After flashing combination file and turnng ADB on try to flash the stock firmware. As I remember ADB should remain ON after that. And only after flashing the stock firmware try to reset FRP via Z3x. (do not forget to use PC USB port for all operations )
