Last week i got 2 4s phone. I used check provider service. I got the same message . (THE CARPHONE WAREHOUSE LIMITED ). So i inserted vodafone. O2, orange uk sim card & connected to i tunes. finally it eccepted the orange card. & i selected orange network & sent the imei for unlock. Within 2 days both of my phones unlocked.

If iphone didn't connect in itunes with org carrier sim once then we cann't get detail of carrier.

here the hit and trial method if you dont have the uk operators sim

download absinthe(4s jailbreak)
jailbreak your phone
install sam from repo.bingner.com
see the activation record ,you will find a activation imsi over there and
then grab the imsi and google for the imsi list and get the operator.

this is for 4s only.
