Hi I have 3gs on 4.1 iPad BB
Is it possible to update to 5.01 and unlock?

U don't need a cfw, just restore your phone with iTunes, then use latest redsn0w to jalibreak and flash the iPad BB. Then unlock it with ultrasn0w 1.2.5

Yes! Even though u already have 6.15 BB, U will need to flash it again to gain the signal. Goodluck!

Have u already got 5.0.1 firmware?

Try it, then U will see that option.

When you go through first part on latest Redsnow to Jailbreak it then gives you 4 options. One of the options is to Update Baseband. Enjoy
