3GS Date setting problem - GSM-Forum

Been asked to sort out iphone with date problem. Dont know history but phone is unlocked and jailbroken.
Model MC637B
Version 4.2.1 (8C148A)
Modem FW 05.15.04

Problem is that in date settings there is only 2 digits showing for year eg 99
anything below 54 is greyed out so cant set correct date. When date is shown on screen it shows "ROC" after it.
This seems to be causing search problems etc.
I dont know if factory unlocked or cydia or network it was on originally.

Any suggestions on how to get date sorted without losing unlock?

Is this a unique problem that no one else has encountered? 60 views and no comments. Is this a softwre problem? I dont want to do update and remove unlock etc if it isnt going to solve the problem.

this is 3G not 3GS, however, safe first the SHSH of the curnt IPSW with tiny, and reflash it again with original IPSW, syns it and safe date before,, after finish save it first as new iphone, and see result.
