3gs just restore and update locked! - GSM-Forum

Hi
I am just a newbie. I got this 3gs from a friend but I accidently restore and update by itunes Aug.24.2011 .I think I am f*uck with this since I read about the forum that the new update is going to lockup my phone ,now that I can't do jb or unlock anymore .Is that true? Thankyou for any input here for me .

u have just update ur iphone to 4.3.5 (i think so), the JB of this FW is tethered, if u want ur cydia back, download the 4.1 and restore again (with shift and select the 4.1) that will give u error 1015, that's normal, use tiny umbrella to kick ur device out of recovery, now search for redsnow 9.8b4 and followthe steps of JB
note: u have to check istall ipd baseband if u want to unlock ur device.

sorry, redsnow 9.8b4 is for the 4.3.5, u have to use 0.9.6b1 for the 4.1

So my phone can only jailbreak but no unlock now.Is that right ?

the way to unlock ur iphone is to install ultrasnow via cydia (after update ur bb to 6.15)

I don't know what firmware and baseband of my3gs now ,since I don't have a legitimate sim card to ativate it .Is there any way to check my firmware and baseband without activation ?

I used Forcaster to check my 3gs, I have :
Model m136
Bootloader 6.4_m352
BB 05.16.02
Unlockable : Upgrade to ipad BB
ios 4.3.5
Can I downgrade ios so that I can jb it ?

You wanna unlock your device
Guide you have to follow is:
1: download 4.1 3gs
2: restore your 3gs to 4.1(yes it's possible cause apple is signing 4.1 for 3gs)
3: download redsn0w0.9.6rc9 and use it to jailbreak your device
While you select install cydia option in redsn0w you will see 3 option is instal ipad bb,so tick that option and press NEXT,follow the software guide
4: connect your device with wifi and open cydia
5: select user and give time to cydia for updation,when cydia finish updating,Go to search tab and search ultrasn0w
6: instal ultrasn0w,Rebootyour device
Happy ending
NOTE: After installing ipad bb you will lose gps parmanently

First of al thanks a lot for the instruction.Everything went good until the pieapple walked out but the it STUCK IN THE installing activation bundles !! Waiting for ages not moving and finally it went back to Apple again .I think I almost get there but just missing something. What can I do now ?
