3gs no service

I have a non-jailbroken, 3GS factory unlocked iPhone.

Yesterday evening, the phone suddenly displayed no service. I thought it's because my room had poor reception but I woke up and it still didn't go away so I moved the iPhone around, took it outside where I usually get full bars but still no service.
I switched sim cards with my brother's iPhone (also 3GS) and I got signal in his.
I tried to reset network settings, restart the phone, toggled airplane mode.. I have 3G turned off since it doesn't work over here but I really did nothing yesterday with the phone that would cause it to have no service.
I haven't restored it yet because I'm worried that being on an unofficial carrier, i would have trouble with iTunes activation.

if any one have slution please tell me what can i do with my phone
thanks in adv.

when you are really shure that your iphone is unlocked by factory, you can restore the firmware with no fear.
Take a look to the modelnumber and you know exact from where your phone comes
