3GS Perma-DFU, no SHSH Blobs available...

Before I state my problem, let me tell you I am not the most computer literate person and I hope that if there is a solution that exists for my issue, it can be explained in simple terms/step-by-step instructions.

I have a 3GS with the 3.1.2 OS. It was jailbroken using blackra1n. Since the jailbreak is tethered, every time my phone turned off/shut down/crashed I always used to be able to reset it with my computer. However, last time it shut down I could no longer restart it with blackra1n as it gets stuck on the screen with Geohot's face (stays on the screen with his face for about 10 minutes, then resets and goes back into the screen with the "connect to iTunes" logo)

. Before coming here asking for help on such a common issue, I Googled this issue extensively, and have tried some of the solutions but nothing works.

-I have tried running blackra1n about 20 or so times, just to make sure it definitely doesn't work.
-Although I have a few important pieces of information on my phone, I thought heck let me try a restore and maybe I could live without them. I tried to restore to both 3.1.3 and 3.1.2, and tried both OS's while in Recovery and DFU modes. ITunes keeps giving me the same error and not allowing me to even restore (I forgot what it is, but if can help find the solution I will try and *******te it).
-When I jailbroke with blackra1n for the first time, I clicked the "make my life easy" option. While reading up on the issue on Google I could understand this does something important with the SHSH or something of that sort, however I do not know what that means or how it could help me.

Uh oh... does this mean it's hopeless...?

Is it possible to get my phone back at all? I'd love to have all the information that is on it back too, but if that's not possible I'd at least like the phone to work. Right now it's just a brick [IMG]http://*****i.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif[/IMG] Can anyone help? I don't care if I have to upgrade to OS 4.0 (although I wouldn't mind staying at 3.0, I have no use for any of OS 4.0's features), but I just desperately need a working phone.

First try with Spirit if no success try this: use custom iOS 4.1 to restore and use Greenpois0n to jailbreak (if you need)

No chance of data recovery unless you have some thing saved in iTune.

first download ipsw 3gs version4.1 ofw
second download 4.1 cfw

use redsnow9.6b6

run redsnow9.6b6 select ofw4.1 after patching kernel , just check pawned DFU only then proceed,,,wait until finish...
run itunes then restore your idevice using CFW 4.1.....

if it is factory unlock :
after restore , acitvate frist using own simcard..

then Jailbreak using redsnow9.6b6 select ofw 4.1 , then check cydia and ipad baseband then proceed..
after jb unlock thru wifi ....if it is lock yet....

Thank you for your response. I was able to follow all the steps. I updated the phone to 4.1, it shows up in iTunes, and I can sync it in iTunes (added 1GB of music just to test). However, the phone never goes to homescreen. It is stuck on the black screen with the Apple logo and spinning wheel, but it never gets to the lockscreen even. What can I do to make it get to homescreen? I have tried hard resetting (home+power button for 10 seconds) but it simply gets stuck on Apple screen again.

Bump for help. No matter what I do I cannot get past the black screen with Apple logo. I have tried to boot tethered, reboot, etc. I can sync in iTunes but nothing else.
