3gs want to unlock and jb at IOS 5

I have this 3gs 16g unlocked and jb at version4.1 already but now want to upgrade to version 5.0 or 5.0.1 to use some newer app. Just want to be careful to screw up my phone .I want to know if it is safe to upgrade to the newest version and unlock jb it .My serial no 82945TKE3NP.BB 06.15.00 version 4.1 I am using Fido as carrier.Thanks in advance.

restore to 5.0.1
and jailbreak with last redsnow version
and unlock with ultrasnow

Just restore 5.0.1 ,use redsnow jb and ipad baseband 6.15,in cydia add. Sources repo666.ultrasnow.com to unlock it

By the way I forgot to ask what version of Redsnow I should use and should I backup all my stuff in my iphone before upgrading it to Ios 5.0.1 ?

Before updating to 5.01 make sure you have the old bootroom phone....if your phone is new bootroom then your phone will be dead. Make sure you check that first.

You should let me know sooner I already updated to 5.0.1 now that I can't unlock my phone to my Fido sim card anymore everything is OK Can I reverse it back to my 4.1 firmware and reuse my Fido again.

Yes U Can Downgrade to 4.1 And Work Great But Tell Me First U SN And U Can Also Work On 5.0.1 But U Must Have The Old BB Chip Not The New To Install IPAD BB

if 3gs has new chip then it would not been working in the 1st place

Your case it was warning and advice from head of DevTeam.

Normally need only RedSn0w 0.9.10b4 to make NO_BB_custom firmware and restore it enough.

But the case happen when you restore the stock firmware. Only the way to solve is re-flash iPad bb (RedSn0w 0.9.10b4) once again. After that use UltraSn0w 1.2.5 to carrier unlocked the phone.

i re flasl ipad bb bt in fone got mount error n stuck in dos mode.....so wat shud i do...my ver is 5.0.1 and bb 6.15 ...always shows searching n no service ??

Hi I have successful jb my 3gs with Redsnow an unlock with Ultrasnow .One tricky thing is I have to reinstall ipad BB one more time although my BB is already 06.15.00 if I don't do it one more time I can't unlock it for my Fido sim card to work, just write it here for some people struggling with the unlock problem.
Here is one more question my phone is jb and unlocked now but it is tethered only. I want to make it untethered. After searching I found there is a way to do with the Corona 5.0.1 unthered method, to make it safe before I do that just want to see if anyone did that and have no any side effect happen .Please let me know ASAP Thanks in advance.

Hi just want to report back , I used Corona 5.0.1to jb my 3gs with ios5.0.1 it is working good for a few days without any problem until today it became tethered again ,it won't boot up only the apple logo appear I have to use the Redsnow to just boot it again.
Question . Is the 3gs with ios 5.0.1 only work for tethered but not yet untethered ? Or maybe my 3gs has the new bootrom so it is tethered ?
Can someone verify this for me ?
