4.2.1 Firmware Problems Please Help ! !


I've downloaded the newest redsn0w and the 4.2.1 ipad firmware, but the problem is with the firmware. I unzipped the firmware file, pulled up redsn0w clicked browse and opened the firmware attachments but they wont open.. And I cant get any farther than that .. my system is windows xp... Please Help!!

use custume firmware for this,many time post is forum ,firmware link,search the forum for this,

Do i have to customize the firmware myself? I've downloaded several different 4.2.1 firmwares from different sites and I get the same results.. it wont open when I browze with redsn0w

do not extract the ipsw files what you are to do is change the file extension from rar to ipsw

to do so you need to go to folder view and uncheck hide extension for known file types

That's correct.

Redsn0w will not see the firmware whilst it is listed as .rar or .zip file.

You must rename the firmware file by removing the .rar or .zip at the end and replacing it with .ipsw, Redsn0w will then be able to weave it's magic.

OK so my question is do you rename the firmware file while its still in zip or rar format or do you extract it first and then rename it?

IF U SEE UR FILE IS ZIP OR RAR U DO JUST SIMPEL WAY BCZ ITS PROBLEM WINDOWS

OPEN UR FOLDER OPTIONS THEN TAB VIEWS THEN U SEE BELOW THERE IS CHECK HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR UNKNOWN FILE JUST UNCHECK IT THEN RENAME THE FILE = FILE ZIP TO IPSW LIKE HERE

just correct it

Just rename it whilst it is still zipped up.

Redsn0w will see it then.
