I have read the sticky post about error 29

I have

3 different iPhone 3GS

2 laptops

2 desk tops

loads of USB Coles

And I have upgraded and downgraded phones In the past.

So here's my question
Any special trick for error 29

Error 29 usually indicate battery incompatibility. I have solve all error 29 with new compatible battery apn-616-0435
This maybe your issue also.

I changed the battery to an original one

I tried restoring to 5.1.1 got an error 1

So I tried restoring to 4.1 got an error 20

Lads any ideas

After error 1 your phone stuck on recovery?
Yes then just jailbreak it and your phone should be ok

remuve complet with tach scren lcd and restore after restore replas ldc all wil be ok testet to day in 2 3gs 8gb iphone
