Password requirement for free apps in iOS 6 seems to be erratic

Yesterday, we mentioned that several users were reporting that the latest version of iOS 6 beta was not requiring them to put in their passwords when downloading free apps.
The news spread quickly, but the assumption was premature. It appears that Apple has quickly reversed this behavior via a backend update, and the password requirement is back in place…
9to5Mac points out that it seems like something has changed, essentially overnight, in the way the App Store handles free app downloads. We can confirm this, as all attempts to download free apps this morning have prompted a request for a password entry.
TheNextWeb’s Matthew Panzarino notes that this behavior has already changed several times throughout the past month, so folks shouldn’t assume that anything is set in stone until iOS 6 goes public sometime later this year. Good advice.
Judging by the feedback yesterday, removing the password requirement for free apps would be a welcomed change in iOS 6. But apparently, Apple’s not quite ready to make that call just yet. And that, my friends, is why we jailbreak.
Are you still able to download free apps without a password?

15 interesting points from today’s earnings call

Apple just announced its financial results for Q3 2012, and is now finishing up its earnings call. As promised, we’ve collected a list of some of the more interesting bits from the call to pass on to you.
Among the list, is the fact that Apple added $7 billion to its growing cash pile last quarter, bringing its cash total to more than $117 billion. Also, there are now 410 million iOS devices in the wild…
  • Apple now has $117 billion in cash
  • iPod still accounts for more than 70% of mp3 player market
  • 1.3 million Apple TVs sold last quarter
  • 410 million iPhones, iPads and iPod touches in the wild
  • 150 million iCloud users
  • 650,000 apps in App Store
  • $1.8 billion in iTunes sales last quarter
  • 20 million songs downloaded last quarter
  • $5.5 billion paid out to app developers to date
  • App Store in 155 countries
  • iPhone now on 250 carriers in more than 100 countries
  • iPad available in 97 countries
  • New Mac OS, OS X Mountain Lion, launches tomorrow
  • $4.1 billion in retail sales
  • 80.3 million retail store visitors
Apple’s overall iPhone sales and revenue numbers missed Wall Street’s projections, but the company says that it is still “extremely confident” in its strategy moving forward.
The company also made sure to note that it has some “amazing new products in the pipeline.” And if recent rumors are any indication, we could see a number of those this fall.

[ Report claims ] new iPod touch to match next iPhone’s taller display, add A5 chip and iPad-like shell

Quote:
Macotakara, the same publication to report on an iOS-inspired, taller iPod nano, claims that Apple is preparing an updated iPod touch for launch this fall. The site says that this new iPod touch will match the next-generation iPhone in providing a taller, four-inch display.

Quote:
Previously leaked next-generation iPod touch front-frame

Also reportedly on tap is the A5 processor from the iPhone 4S and a rear-shell that matches the iPad. The iPad sports a buffed aluminum shell, rather than shiny stainless steel like on the current iPod touch. A hole toward the bottom back of the device is also said to be present, but the report is unsure of the hole’s function. Perhaps it is a speaker, but that’s just speculation.

iPhone 5 will be released on Friday, September 21, 2012

Yes, iPhone 5 will be released in the late September, more precisely on Friday, 21 September, 2012. This rumor came from a French blog, App4Phone. Earlier today, we reported that next-gen iPhone will have a smaller 19 –pin dock connector. However, iMore also posted that Apple will also provide a standard 30-pin dock adaptor with the next-gen iPhone in order to connect your iDevice with older dock accessories.

This new rumor about the release date of the next-gen iPhone came from a French blog. However, many famous tech blog has already confirmed the release of next-gen iPhone in last week of September or 1st week of October. But this French blog has given the exact date of release of iPhone 5.

This is what the posted on their blog:

Last week, Knowyourmobile also reported that Apple will introduce next-gen iPhone on 7th August because Apple is again going to change its Product cycle, starting from summer to summer. However, this news doesn’t seem to legitimate and many analysts says it wrong.

The most precise rumors and news that we have heard until now says that Apple has started the production of the new iPhone. However; it will be released in late September or early October.

Aperture, iPhoto, and iMovie Receive Small Updates Alongside Launch of Mountain Lion

While Apple’s iWork updates for Pages, Keynote, and Numbers include support for iCloud and the MacBook Pro with Retina display, today’s updates for professional and creative applications such as Aperture (already updated to take advantage of the Retina display), iPhoto, and iMovie consist of stability improvements and further integration with this morning’s release of OS X Mountain Lion.
Aperture 3.3.2

The latest version of Aperture includes updates for added compatibility with Mountain Lion, ad******* stability issues that can occur when the app is in Full Screen mode, tweaks auto white balance when using Skin Tone mode, and now lets users sort projects and albums in the Library Inspector by date, name, and kind.
iPhoto 9.3.2

Today’s iPhoto update is about bringing sharing options to Messages and Twitter, whilst fixing some stability issues and improving compatibility with Mountain Lion. Last month, iPhoto and Aperture were updated with the release of the MacBook Pro with Retina display. Among other things, this update unified the two apps’ libraries, enabling them to access each others’ stored photos natively.
iMovie 9.0.7

While iMovie’s release notes don’t specifically mention Mountain Lion on the Mac App Store, it does call for fixes with third-party Quicktime components, improved stability when viewing MPEG-2 clips in the Camera Import window, and brings sound back to MPEG-2 clips important from a camera (where it may have been absent before).
You can download Aperture, iPhoto, and iMovie from the Mac App Store.

iTunes U Update Brings Note-Taking, New Search & Sharing Features

Despite releasing OS X Mountain Lion and a whole host of app compatibility updates this morning, Apple has finished delivering new software. The Cupertino company just rolled out iTunes U version 1.2, which adds note-taking, and new search and sharing features.
The ability to take notes while you’re watching lectures is something I think has been missing from iTunes U from day one. But it’s better late than never. With the latest release, you can take notes at the same time as watching or listening to lectures.

You can then search those notes using the apps new search features. It does’t stop at notes, either; you can also search posts, assignments, and course materials.
Finally, iTunes U 1.2 allows you to share your favorite course with your friends via email, Twitter, or Messages.

Safari For Windows Download

With the release of OS X Mountain Lion today, Apple also released Safari 6.0 for Mac. As noted by some, the Windows version of Safari didn’t see the update, and in fact, disappeared from Apple’s site altogether.
While a direct download is still available, speculation has arisen that perhaps Safari for Windows had been completely discontinued.

At the same time today, Apple posted a page (which has since disappeared and now redirects here) detailing Safari 5.1.7 for Windows, even though this version of Safari was released back in May with OS X 10.7.4. As mentioned by MacRumors, Apple had previously listed Safari 5.1.7 for both Mac and Windows on the same page here.
With all of this confusion, speculation has been flying around about what is actually going on with Safari for Windows. While Apple seems to have stopped development of it, at least for now, it appears that they will still be offering the download through the support page for the time being.
If you’re a user of Safari on Windows, it’s safe to say that you should start looking at other alternatives at this point. While Safari for Windows isn’t gone, it’s certainly on its way out.

[ NEW iPhone ] New purported next-generation iPhone parts photos show fully assembled

New purported next-generation iPhone parts photos show fully assembled device

Quote:
You’ll remember that 9to5Mac was the first to show photos of purported next-generation iPhone parts. Since then, many of the details – including the smaller dock connector – were affirmed by multiple mainstream reports. Unsurprisingly, as the new iPhone moves into production, more of these parts are starting to leak out to more repair shops.

Quote:
Today, repair shop iLab has posted its own photos, but these images apparently showcase a fully assembled body. The new photos give a clear look at what a black, fully-assembled next-generation iPhone might look like when it ships to customers this fall. The repair shop also has some photos of other individual components like home buttons and volume keys. See the full gallery after the break:

Apple Ready to Finish Shutting Down MobileMe Over Next Few Days

As of June 30, Apple officially discontinued MobileMe, the company's previous suite of online services that has been replaced by iCloud. But while the MobileMe services went offline as of that date, the company has continued to allow MobileMe users to migrate their accounts to iCloud and to download Gallery photos and iDisk files "for a limited time".

It now appears that the "limited time" is rapidly running out, and users who have yet to save their MobileMe data and/or convert their accounts to iCloud need to move quickly to ensure that they do not lose their data and registered user names. As noted by Ben Guild, Apple support staff indicated to him that as of the end of the day today Apple will begin shutting down those accounts that have not been migrated, beginning the process of opening those user names up to new users registering for iCloud.

We contacted Apple support staff to confirm the timing on the transition and were told a slightly different story, with the representative informing us that Apple would begin taking the old MobileMe servers offline as of the end of the day tomorrow. Some users' data could continue to be available after that time as Apple works through the process of purging all of the old MobileMe data, but users wishing to save their data and claim iCloud accounts with their MobileMe user names do need to move very quickly in order to ensure continuity.

Users who have already converted their MobileMe accounts to iCloud will be able to continue using the me.com versions of their email ad*******, although the company is rolling out icloud.com equivalents to give users the option of changing domains.

Apple's final discontinuation of MobileMe services comes as the company is also shutting down its beta iWork.com service at the end of the day today. Apple has sent out several reminders warning iWork.com users that they must save any uploaded documents before the service is discontinued, and the support representative we spoke with today indicated that users should not rely upon a grace period for retrieving those documents after today.

iPhone 5 : Video of an Attractive Concept in Exclusive

We present in a total exclusive original creation by designer-official iPhone 5G. This video contains many news and rumors about the features of the iPhone 5 we present regularly.
Video of the concept of exclusive iPhone 5

For more thrills, you should watch the video in HD.

The features of the iPhone 5 presented in the video
3D camera on the iPhone 5 with FaceTime

Apple filed a patent in March towards the 3D camera, enabling major improvements not only through the application FaceTime but also opening new possibilities.
The patent filed by Apple states that the iPhone camera could detect 5 the depth of the image, its brightness and chroma (color) . This could allow an automatic setting of the picture quality, adapting to the surrounding climate (sun or sunny afternoon at the beach for example). It would be possible for the camera to recognize our expressions and our body language. We can easily imagine an application that uses the 3D camera and analyzing the expression of our faces and our movements. Similarly, the patent filed by the Cupertino enable applications via provided for this purpose, automatically create 3D objects just by filming the subject from all angles.
Retina 3D screen of 4.5 inches

Compared to the 4.7-inch screen of the Galaxy S3, Apple could put on a par with its competitor, without exaggerating the size of the screen, avoiding scaring off consumers not fond of big screens.Increasing the size of the iPhone screen remains for 5 against certainty .
An option with the Retina screen that would be welcome on the iPhone 5 would involve the possibility of converting its IOS interface and applications 3D compatible, as is the case with 3D TVs without glasses.

An ultra thin

When the Galaxy S3 measured 8.6 mm thick for 133 grams, the HTC X One was 8.9 mm and 130 grams, the iPhone 4S and 9.3 mm thick and it weighs 140 grams did a little work. The future design of the iPhone 5 should therefore surprise us by its thinness, allowing a better grip and a lightweight.
3D camera for iPhone 5

Take a video with his iPhone 5 and be able to post a Video 3D incommensurate with previous versions of the iPhone, it could be a marketing advantage that would explode the sales of Apple during the entire sales of the new iPhone! The images and movies from iPhone 5 might as well take a big lead against the competition.
Changing the logo of the hull of the iPhone 5

Until now, the Apple logo on the hull at the back of the iPhone was just a different color to the hull, but does not light. Currently, only the MacBook has a function illuminating the logo according to computer use.
Adapting this on the iPhone 5, Apple could propose various scalable logos to choose from, adapting to the wishes and priorities of its owner. The logo of the apple may well be totally green when the battery is charged to 100% and turn black gradually as the battery discharges. Another logo might warn us of the receipt of new email messages, and finally, we might mention another new notifications on Facebook, which will be integrated into the Apple iOS 6, available in September.
Fingerprint recognition

No more codes on the iPhone! It would suffice to the owner of the iPhone 5 to put his finger on the screen to unlock the iPhone 5! Very funny but also very practical: it will put an end to forgotten password, to save time and avoid resetting the iPhone after one too many unsuccessful attempts to unlock the phone, as this is the case on the iPhone 4S.
Holographic screen

Would not it be nice to be able to watch a movie from your iPhone on a table five? The demonstration that we are doing in the video at the beginning of this article is staggering: in such an advanced touchscreen phones open up many opportunities, which include the interactive 3D holographic screen , that we present in the video. If this option will perhaps not part of the characteristics of the next Apple iPhone, no doubt it exists one day, and it will equip our smartphones. Meanwhile, nothing prevents you realize what this technology will look like in the future.

The holographic screen interactive: Play in 3D!

The video shows that we have designed a very good example of what could be an interactive game using 3D holographic technology: a good finger started as Tiger Woods, and now the ball very far part, giving you impressive sensations. The game world would face an unprecedented boom, allowing for almost limitless possibilities. A options, once again, there will indeed one day.
The iPhone 5 available in black and white

No real surprise, the iPhone 5 should be available in two standard colors only: black and white.Apple probably believes that if you want to equip your iPhone 5 of another color, nothing prevents you to buy any one hull, which will do. By focusing on only two colors, it allows Apple to make economies of scale, and increase its profit margins, which should appeal to shareholders. And let’s face it, the color is a detail, provided that the characteristics of the video are indeed on the new iPhone 5 !

This prototype iPhone 5 is of course not the official iPhone 5 , but it could partly be. That at least is what we hope since the characteristics that we have presented are all (r) evolution that will enable us always more and better enjoy our iPhone 5.

Console yourself, however if you do not see all of these features on the new iPhone 5: some may still be difficult to implement … but who knows? A surprise is soon here, and everyone knows that hope is alive.
