iOS 6 Beta 4 Introduces The Bluetooth Sharing Feature

It seems like a pretty busy day, As we posted earlier today, Apple has seeded iOS 6 Beta 4 to the developers and we have notice the lack of the default YouTube app which has been confirmed by Apple as its license to ship it has expired and Google is currently working on a separate YouTube app. Well, Here is another new but this time it’s exceptionally awesome. One of the many new features in iOS 6 is The Bluetooth sharing feature. We don’t know yet the purpose behind it.

iOS 6 Bluetooth Sharing Feature:

Maybe this feature is aimed towards the iPod Nano as a watch. Maybe the popularity of the iPod Nano as a watch has given Apple the idea to the iPhone and the iPod Nano more compatible as complimentary devices.

The Bluetooth sharing feature can be accessed through Settings > Privacy and you will see the list of apps that have requested to share data through the Bluetooth connection. More about this new feature will be known with the release of the new iPhone and iOS 6 alongside it on Wednesday, September 12th.

Photos of purported next-generation iPhone’s smaller dock port surface

Quote:

Update: The original source, Nowherelse, posted an update with new information regarding the leaked dock connector images claiming the connector has 16 pins, 8 on each side, with 8 likely being reserved for future uses:

We have obtained new information about this connector. We have indeed learned that it is not equipped with 8 to 16 pins but distinct functions or 8 on each side thereof to note that one of them would have no basis of record and would be for possible future use.

There have been a ton of alleged next-gen iPhone leaks in recent weeks, including images of the device’s thinner, higher capacity 1440 mAh battery, SIM card tray, and other internal components. Today we get a look at parts related to the smaller, redesigned dock connector, as well as what French site Nowherelse.fr claimed could possibly be the first images of the connector itself. In our own image above, we see an insert component for the new iPhone on the right showing the outline of the new iPhone’s dock connector. The unconfirmed images from Nowherelse below show what appears to be an 8-pin dock connector next to the USB end for context. We recently discovered possible references to a 9-pin dock connector in iOS 6, while previous reports claimed a 19-pin or 8-pin design was in the works. While our leak of the next-gen iPhone backs in May gave us a good look at the port for the redesigned dock connector, the pin layout for the connector itself is still unconfirmed.

Quote:
Update: iFixit told MacRumors that even though there are 8 gold pins, the metal frame counts as its own pin. This adds up to nine pins, as we reported the other day based on iOS 6 source code. This may mean these above photos are legitimate.

Apple Releases First Beta Of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 To Developers Read more at htt

We told you earlier this week that Apple was preparing to release its first beta build of OS X 10.8.1 to developers, and the 10.8.1 beta has now been seeded for registered developers in the Mac Dev Center. Apple hasn’t noted any known issues or added features, and developers are asked to focus on compatibility with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange in Mail, PAC proxies in Safari, SMB, USB, and Wi-Fi and audio when connected to Thunderbolt display.
This new version (build 12B13) is the first developer beta to be made available after Mountain Lion’s public release in the Mac App Store last month. Apple should be pushing out 10.8.1 as an official update for non-devs in the coming weeks. The current shipping version of Mountain Lion is 10.8.

iOS 6 Offers New Wi-Fi Plus Cellular Mode

iOS 6 Beta 4 brings a new feature called Wi-Fi Plus Cellular that lets apps having trouble with poor Wi-Fi use cellular data instead.

The feature is accessible from the Settings -> General -> Cellular menu.

Also new in iOS 6 is the ability to decide whether to use cellular data for iCloud Documents, iTunes, FaceTime, Passbook Updates, and Reading List.

Photos of alleged next-generation iPhone internal board surface, point to new antennas, battery

Quote:
A WeiPhone forums user posts a couple of photos of what is apparently claimed to be a motherboard for the next-generation iPhone. If legitimate, the part appears to be a prototype unit because it is missing much of the typical labeling.

Unfortunately, the new iPhone’s processor, does not appear to be pictured in these photos. In May, we reported that Apple is testing next-generation iPhone hardware with a new A5-2 processor. This reportedly is an A5-based CPU (like in the iPhone 4S) but with various tweaks.

The SIM card slot, the most-centered component on the motherboard, does appear slightly smaller in size compared to the 4/4S, according to iDeviceGuys, iPhone parts specialists that we spoke to. The connection points are also more closely connected. This may or may not point to the new device using the new Nano-SIM format.

This repair firm also says that the battery connector apparently has a five pins, compared to four on the iPhone 4S. We recently posted a photo of the new iPhone’s higher-capacity battery.

Quote:
iDeviceGuys also says that more antenna connections are present (compared to the iPhone 4S), which may lead credence to the rumors pointing to this new iPhone as the first LTE smartphone from Apple.

Apparently, the digitizer connector for the display is also tweaked, and this may point to the already-rumored new screen technology coming in this new iPhone.

While we wouldn’t normally put too much faith in an unverified forum post, we looked a bit more into the poster of the photographs. It seems that the same user posted legitimate photos of an iPhone 4S motherboard in August 2011. That is a couple months prior to the device’s announcement and launch.

In addition, now that a good amount of other parts (including back plates) have leaked out for this new iPhone, NoWhereElse.fr made a GIF that compares the size and connections of the motherboard in the photos to the already leaked parts:

Quote:
As you can see, the connection points on the motherboard seem to match up with the connectors on the leaked back parts.

The new iPhone is rumored to also include a thinner design, and a larger display. Following our report from earlier this year that the new iPhone will have a taller, 1136 x 640 display, we discovered that the latest beta builds of iOS 6 are optimized for that resolution.

The new iPhone is expected to be released in September.

Diagram shows claimed next-gen iPhone parts fit together

At this point, there doesn’t seem to be many details regarding Apple’s new smartphone that we don’t know. We’ve seen dozens of leaked internal and external parts, and there’s growing evidence that these pieces are in fact legitimate.
Still not convinced? Then check out the above diagram, put together by the iPhone experts over at iFixYouri. The image shows that many of the previously leaked next-gen iPhone parts fit perfectly in the recently-leaked motherboard…
9to5Mac, which has been leading the charge of leaked iPhone 5 parts since it published photos of its back covers back in May, reports:
“iFixYouri Professional iPhone repair has put together a diagram (shown above) that puts many of the next-generation iPhone’s leaked parts into context…
..One of the biggest points to note is that many of these leaked parts fitting together nicely on the motherboard (obviously, image size aside) probably means that these parts are legitimate.”
Despite the evidence, we’ve noticed a growing amount of skepticism regarding the legitimacy of these components. This has easily been the most part leaks we’ve ever seen for an unreleased Apple product, not counting the iPhone 4, and folks are starting to wonder how this can be possible with a company that thrives on secrecy.
Well for one, these parts aren’t coming out of Cupertino, where Apple has secured buildings with cameras and card scanners. They are coming out of the one place the company doesn’t have very much control over, its supply chain.
Apple’s supply chain is made up of dozens of component manufacturers, with hundreds of thousands of employees. And these employees, who are known for being underpaid, are constantly being offered money and other rewards by case manufacturers and other third parties for any parts belonging to Apple’s new products.
And if you’re still skeptical, consider this: we’ve seen enough purported next-gen iPhone components to basically build a handset. So if they don’t belong to the next iPhone, what do they belong to? As industrial designer Don Lehman points out, creating such an elaborate device would require the same design and engineering effort that would go into making an actual smartphone.
But obviously, nothing is a certainty. We won’t know for sure what the next iPhone looks like, or what features it will have, until Apple’s media event next month. But at the moment, it does seem like we have a pretty good idea of both.
What do you make of all of this?

[News] Apple pushed New OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 Build to Developers

After seeding the first 10.8.1 build to developers only a week ago, Apple has pushed out another 10.8.1 build.
The new build has a build number of 12B17 and has “No Known Issues.”

Apple has asked developers to focus on:
- Active Directory
- Microsoft Exchange in Mail
- PAC proxies in Safari
- SMB
- USB
- Wi-Fi and audio when connected to Thunderbolt display
There are no release notes with any of the 10.8.1 builds. We most likely must wait for the official release to see what exact changes have occurred

If you are a developer, you can download this new build from the downloads section of the mac developer center.

Chrome updated with new social features and more

Great news for all of you Chrome fans out there, Google has just pushed out a nice little update for its popular third-party browser.
The new release features a handful of changes, including new sharing options, stability improvements, and bug fixes…
The most notable change in Chrome version 21.0.1180.77 (yeah, that’s the real version number) is the ability to share website URLs with Twitter, Facebook, and of course, Google+. You can also now email them.
The sharing is seamless, and often takes just a single touch. As you might have guessed, this requires some authorization from your various social network apps first. But once it’s set up, it’s really convenient.
As for the other changes — the stability improvements and such — I haven’t noticed much of a difference. At times, Chrome feels a bit faster, but that could just as easily be a placebo effect as anything else.
If you want to check out Chrome for yourself, you can find it in the App Store, for both the iPhone and the iPad. And for all of you jailbreakers, remember you can set the app as your default iOS browser using this tweak.
How do you feel about Chrome? Are you still using it?

Apple just released OS X 10.8.1, maybe your Mac already told you via Notification Center, but Mountain Lion’s first public update is out. The update includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac. The delta update appears to be less than 8MB is size.
• Resolve an issue that may cause Migration Assistant to unexpectedly quit
• Improve compatibility when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server in Mail
• Address an issue playing audio through a Thunderbolt display
• Resolve an issue that prevents iMessages from being sent
• Resolve an issue when connecting to SMB servers with long names
• Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when using Pinyin input
If you still haven’t updated to OS X Mountain Lion, now would be an excellent time since the first ‘bug fix’ update is out. You can
