Can iOS 5.0 be jailbroken untethered?? - GSM-Forum

I bought an iphone 3GS today that was running iOS 5.0 NOT 5.0.1.
Since 5.1 is now out, I cannot upgrade to 5.0.1 as SHSH blobs were not saved as the phone was never previously jailbroken.
I tried redsnow jailbreak but it claims iOS 5.0 jailbreak will be tethered- which it now is on my phone.
Why is 5.0 jb tethered but 5.0.1 is untethered?
Is there any way to get an untethered jb without reverting to 4.1?
3GS is new bootrom model.

u can update to IOS 5.0.1
coz apple still sign 5.0.1
and after u can use absinthe to jailbreak
or...........
use absinthe to jailbreak yr 5.0

Apple is not signing 5.0.1 where I am- it said that update is not available.
Also Absinthe is for 4S, not 3GS
