i already read sticky about this but confused. i hav 5 devices 2 3g with 3.0, 3 3gs with 3.1.3 how can i restore the devices to 4.0. please help me.

But 3gs you cant downgrade @ the moment...apple server not allowed!!

use the ******* firmware and update it to 4.1 without updating modem

3g devices u can do by changing hosts file and restore

for 3gs u have to use pwnage tool and custom ipsw to restore and only in mac system

??? For added info for those who don't know it's 3G & 3GS not supported to upgrade 4.0,4.0.1,4.0.2 and the new 4.1...remember that...and kindly give correct information to people who is asking politely...thinking having a knowledge on what he is writing but he doesn't even know a thing.

Going back to your question, here's the right answer:

right now you can only upgrade it to 4.1 since apple closes IOS 4.0...

Check all your idevice whether it's factory locked or unlocked before making an upgrade, otherwise when you upgrade it to 4.1 you can only Jailbreak but not unlocked, making your iphones becoming an expensive ipod touch.

If any of your iphone is factory unlocked then, go ahead upgrade it then use either Limera1n or greepois0n to jaibreak.

With regards to your iphone which is factory locked, just wait for the upcoming unlocked by the time IOS 4.2 arrived somewhere around next month..Or if your using Mac try using Pwnagetool.

joieboy ur information is rearly helpful.can u please tell me about custom firmwares they r jailbroken and unlockable.specially 4.0

The iphone :iphone could not be restore this device is not eligible for the request build i m using the itunes 9.0.2.25 where is problem in restore than x ...
