Does anybody know how to normalize the volume in a mp4 video files?

I have a iPod touch,
Does anybody know how to normalize the volume in a mp4 video file?
I have downloaded many music videos from internet and just like mp3s they come with widely differing volumes. I use mp3 gain to sort out my mp3's but don't know how or what software to use to do the same to mp4 files.I want to enjoy them on my iPod touch.
any help is much appreciated
