Downgrade iOS 4.3 to iOS 4.2.1 or earlier [How to Guide]

A few days ago Apple has released the final version of the much awaited iOS 4.3, the latest firmware update for iPhone. Many people now updated their devices while other, more hesitant to jailbreak or interested, they preferred to wait. In this post we will offer you the guide to downgrade from firmware 4.3 to firmware 4.2.1 or earlier, Just You Have to follow The steps below for all owners of iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS upgraded to iOS 4.3.

You Will Need This:
  • Download iOS 4.2.1 save on your computer.
  • Download iOS 4.3 For Your idevice
  • Download iTunes 10.2.1 (or later) installed.
  • OS Windows or Mac OS X.
  • Certificates SHSH firmware 4.2.1 or earlier.
Before you do you must have appropriately amended their host file. Here's how:

Windows Users:
  • Open Notepad with administrator privileges and click the right button and selecte icon"Open as administrator".
  • Position yourself in the path C: / WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc
  • Add this string to find the document: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
  • Close and save the changes
Mac Users:
  • Using the Finder, navigate to the location / etc
  • Open the file "hosts" and enter the following string at the end of the document: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
  • After Finishing the changes save the document to your desktop
  • Now copy the new file in this directory Host (saved on desktop) overwriting the original
How to Guide:

1. Connect your device to your computer and put it in DFU mode.

2. Once the iPhone is in DFU mode and will be detected by iTunes, click "Ok" and then select the firmware 4.1 to restore the iPhone software. To do this you must press and hold down the ALT key (Mac) and SHIFT (Windows) and then click on the Restore item. The reset takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

3. At the end of the process, iTunes may return an error (1011, 1013, 1015). It is quite normal. Continue ignoring the error as the 4.2.1 firmware has been installed on your device but also you have enjoyed the so-called Recovery Mode Loop. You get out in various ways, including:
  • Using the latest version of RecBoot, available only for Mac.
  • Using the latest version of TinyUmbrella, available for Mac and Windows.
If you choose to use RecBoot you simply connect your iPhone to your computer, open the prograrmma and select "Exit Recovery Mode". The device will reboot and you have restored iOS 4.2.1 on your device.
If you are using TinyUmbrella, you click on "Exit Recovery" at the top of the tab for the device connected to your computer.
