| Erasing Modem Version (will this work) Hi, I've been in the cellular market for a very very long time and thought of a trick method which we used to clone Motorola ETACS phones back in the mid 90's. Not sure if this method would work for Apple basebands, so if the gurus here can help see if it works. Baseband versions can only go up, and not down. So if we create our own version (If that is even possible) say like hex FF FF FF for the version, which is suppose to be even higher than out 06.15.00, that would automatically cause the modem IC to be blank, and thus allowing the user to re-write any versions back into the modem IC. What do you say? ![]() ![]() |

| baseband ic i think is more sensitive than those of motorola's power ic (if i remember it correctly that is where we would fine serial number that holds the signal) if we accidentally destroy baseband ic, that would cost a fortune to repair. so i guess it might be better if we could back up baseband or modem firmware and successfully return it back if we broke the baseband chip. this was thru my intuition only, not entirely from technical details. |
