Help me jailbreak, unlock and activate my iPhone 3GS please

Basically I havent been keeping up to date with all the jailbreak/unlock news the last few months so can someone help me out please

iPhone 3GS MC model
Version: 4.1
Firmware: 6.15.00

Is it possible to jailbreak, unlock and activate my iPhone? I need to activate it too because I dont have the original sim

1.jailbrake with redsn0w (0.9.6 shoud work just fine for 4.1 version)
2.for unlock instal ultrasn0w from cydia

Optional you can restore with 5.0.1 custom firmware before you start if you need latest software version

Could you explain how I do this? Because I want to use the latest version


Would it work if I just restore my iPhone with iTunes to the latest version and then use redsnow to jailbreak it?

Will my iPhone be activated too?

after jailbreak u can activate and unlock Ur set without Sim with ultra snow in cydia

yes restore with cfw no need original sim card if you restore with cfw and install ultrasn0w for unlock

Can someone tell me how to restore my iPhone with a custom 5.0.1 firmware? I've looked at that link someone above posted but its a little confusing

Is this correct:

First download the Redsn0w from here (Windows/Mac).

- Launch the application and click on “Extras”

- Now click on “Pwned DFU” and follow the on-screen instructions so limera1n exploit is applied.

- After your device enters the Pwned DFU mode now launch the iTunes and navigate to the iPhone tab and press SHIFT (Option on Mac) and then with the SHIFT (Option on Mac) pressed click on the on the “Restore” button. Now a new dialog will popup from this navigate to the place where the custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware that we created in the previous step is stored and then Select it. Be careful you need to select the custom iOS 5 firmware that was cooked using the Redsn0w and starts with “NO_BB”!

– After selecting the new custom firmware iTunes will begin installing/restoring the iOS 5.0.1 but with the critical feature that the old baseband will be preserved.

– Congrats! You have jailbroken your iPhone 4, iPhone 4 CDMA, iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 while preserving the baseband of the device.

OK this is what Im following: iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone Without Updating the Baseband (Windows) [5.0.1]

However its for a tethered JB. How do I go about having an unthered JB based on the above instructions?
