hi, a know that unlock is impossible at this time for 3GS 3.1.3 with bb 5.12.1 so i want just jailbreak it, but my 3gs is not activated with original sim, can you tell me how activate and jailbreak it without original sim

P.S. as i understood Spirit cant jailbreak not activated devices :-( so first i need to activate it, but i dont know how to do it without original sim

You cannot activate your iphone w/o original sim.

My friend at this time it's not posible to unlock iPhone 3G 5.12.1 but u can jailbreak it by using redsnow download readsnow & download firmware 3.1.2 then search on YouTube about the video easy way is that

If you have a restored,previously locked iPhone that say "Emergency call"
after update to firmware 3.1.3
Hactivation does not work with modem fw :5.12.01.
If not activated in iTunes with correct sim it will not work......
You dont even get a tab with "Mobile network settings" and the phone will say No service or will show no signal bars.
If you check "General" tab under "carrier" it will say "Not available".
You can jailbreak it and use it as a very expensive ipod.
Thats the big fuss............

To get Emei there are 2 very easy way's for a fully locked to Network iphone.

With iPhone powered on, you see the Slide Bar,

SLIDE FOR EMERGENCY

Upper right corner of the bar, there is a i in a circle, touch it! Emei appears on screen!

Or pull out the simtray, behind that pc of plastic (simcard holder) you will get the emei, and Serial Nunmber SN

Unfortunately its not true, 5.12.1 is possible by IMEI as yassin said. 100% tested on O2 and Orange UK.

Imei Unlock is , as you say, available only for som Spanish, UK carriers. O2 and Orange.
But for the rest of the world it is not possible to unlock via IMEI.

@Barton3000: Thanks for the info, but i am still confused about your reply. You are right that the carrier is showing "Not available", as this piece i have is 5.12.01 with OS 3.1.3(LOCKED). But the phone is active.
When i restored it to official 3.1.3, phone was not activated "Emergency call", but after performing jailbreak (readsn0w), i got it activated.
But again this was tested on 3g, so far i have no experience with 3GS.

Can you please give more details why some users are not able to activate there phones or what are the cases where user get stuck with activation? I want to know more about it please.
