open itunes,and keep pressed home and on button both when u see reboot phone and see apple logo,just release on button,but keep pressed home button.it will take u in itunes mode.so u can restore it.but may be u can not make it unlock later if firmware updated.just use limerain later for jailbreak and activate it.

well it will be with latest soft and latest baseband so all patch unlock will be gone but depending on which network its locked to yes possibly a full unlock can be done

If your iphone is already jailbroken with afc2 support then using iPhoneBrowser delete /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist and /var/Keychains/keychain-2.db and then turn the phone off and power it on again. Your password is deleted.
