Upgrade from 4.01/4.02 to 4.1 without ssh and preserve baseband success ! - GSM-Forum

Upgrade from 4.01/4.02 to 4.1 without ssh back up and preserve baseband success !

I just manually upgrade my iphone 4 from 4.02 to 4.1 without update the baseband .

Here is what I did. TESTED , CONFIRMED

1. Download the ios 4.1 Firmware
2. Put the phone to recovery mode
3. Manually hold the shift button and restore the downloaded 4.1 firmware
4. ITUNES will give u the ERROR 1004 ( DONT WORRY, U ARE ON TRAIL)
5. Downloaded the latest Tinyumbrella from The Firmware Umbrella

6. connect the iphone to the computer and click the Tinyumbrella.
7. wait for a min, and click the "kick out of the recovery mode"
8. Activated the phone
9. GO to setting --> general -->about and you will see that u are on ios4.1 and baseband 01.59.00
10. Now use limra1n or greenposi0n to jailbreak
11. click the ultrasn0w to unlock

DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS

it's will be upgrade baseband too.....

Already done 2 pcs iPhone 4 but it's not a general rule. The third piece got its BB to 2.10.04 so it's not unlockable.

I don't know why BB for the two first pieces was not updated to v.2.10.04 but you cannot post such a guide because it will make a big confusion and lead members to the risk of BB upgrade.

some time it does matter that the persons HOST file is already modified and he can only go through via cydia server and as a matter of fact the pieces he use to upgrade is already shsh'd so there is no trouble for him this belongs to only IPHONE 4.

so their is nothing more have to say read the threads and work around your self safely is the best to kept tension away from you coz some people with lesser post make some time a bad move not always so make it sure u r going in a right directions.

its work only for iphone 4..and also if u changed the host file...but with apple server u have to update baseband..lol..
