ok i got past the error 9 by downloading a new firmware:

iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore

now i was able to update the phone successfully.
after the update the phone goes to charge but if i try to turn it on it didnt turn on,so i thought it was ok and i opened up redsn0w to see what happens,i give redsn0w the same firmware iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore and then click on yes when it asks me if it has the new boot. after that tick on install cydia put it in dfu mode and did the redsn0w procedure.after that the phone STILL DIDNT TURN IT ON,just goes to charge.ok i said to myself no problem,it has the new bootrom so i need to open again redsn0w and tick boot untethered right now.i waited for the procedure to end,at the end i see a pineapple in the iphone screen then it turns off and if i try to turn it on IT DOESNT!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE I READ ALL THE TUTORIAL AND I KNOW WHAT IM DOING BUT WHY WHY THE PHONE DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!!!!! ((((((

I AM STARTING TO THINK THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE TUTORIAL WHICH DOESNT WORK!!!!

IPHONE Stuck on apple logo solution to fix it..
Windows users:

1) Download iRecovery file. Click here

2) Unzip the file and copy the resulting folder iRecovery to c: (c drive)

3) Open the iRecovery32 folder and install(execute) the libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1 file.
To install this file Windows xp users can directly double click on it. However, Windows 7/Vista users should follow these steps
Right click on the file and select troubleshoot compatiblity or Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows XP (Service Pack2).

4) Now go to Start > Accessories > Command prompt and open it.

5) In the command prompt enter cd/ to go the root level i.e c:

6) Once in the root level,
Enter cd iRecovery
Finally type cd iRecovery_SVN

7) Now type the command iRecovery -s

8 ) Now execute the following commands
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
fsboot

.

9) Congrats. Your phone will now successfully reboot in the normal mode. If it still boots up in recovey mode or if it’s still stuck on Apple screen, follow the above instructions twice or thrice. If after repeating it thrice you still have a problem, then repeat the above 8 steps once more but this time put reboot in place of fsboot in the last(8th) step.

follow all steps carefully and post results here...

read 9th step carefully. it does work if ur phone stuck on apple logo after installing any app from cydia or while doing jailbreak.
after trying 2 or 3 times if it dosnt work for u put reboot instead of fsboot in last command.
