iphone 3gs UK, want to use in US unlocking/jailbreak question - GSM-Forum

Please stop deleting my thread...for no reason!?

I have a iphone 3gs 16gb on UK Orange network

I am going to America for 1 year and want to take this phone with me but i am under the impression that i will need to jailbreak the phone to use a US sim card in it

My question is do i need to jailbreak it to use a US sim card in it or unlock it to use a US sim card in it... or both?

you have to jailbreak it and unlock at the same time!by the way what is the firmware and baseband version of ur iphone?....

I haven't checked the baseband etc yet as i have 2 months before i go to usa, but im running os 4.1

Im guessing the jailbreak doesnt unlock it at the same time..?

Ok so can you just unlock the iphone or do you have to jailbreak it to then be able unlock it?

what im trying to say is u have to jailbreak it first b4 u unlock,but unfortunately 4.1 is not supported for unlock as of now
