U can't restore now with 5.0.1 without shsh.
try with 5.1/4.1
changing itunes can't help.

humm welcome sir , but 5.0.1 is unsigned by apple currently .
that mean it's not possible to upgrade or donwgrade 5.0.1 on your iPhone . possiblle only if you were to 5.0.1 and you saved SHSH before move to another iOS version .

Firmware signed by apple currently are :

4.1 and 5.1 for iPhone 3GS , stay away to 5.1 jailbrak not there .
