iPhone 4 - Now an expensive brick :/

Hey Guys,

Basically, my iPhone4 was laggy and it turned itself off, and basically refuses to turn itself back on. It was Jailbroken via L1merain on iOS4.1. Had no problems until this time. Basically, it doesn't boot holding the power button. I have done the hard reset (Home + Power) and get nothing! The computer will only recognise the device when its in DFU mode (Hold Power+Home for 10 seconds, release power until DFU achieved).

Once in DFU mode, I can send a restore command via iTunes to the device, however, it disconnects the device from the computer and the device does not reconnect giving a 1601 Error in iTunes.

I have tried the following;

-Manually putting it in recovery mode.
-Reinstalled iTunes
-Tried Hard Reset
-Used a different computer + OS
-Tried iREB to fix the device
-Disconnected the battery (within the device)

I have had this with an iPod Touch in the past, it was down to drivers, and it was fixed. I think its a similar thing. As far as im aware, its basically stuck in DFU mode (hence the black screen constantly). Does anyone have any solutions before I have to go to the stupid Apple Store. Its deffinatly Software related rather than hardware the device was working perfectly fine!

Thanks in advance, Footylad

Sorry to say that I don't know the answer, but have another expirience related to 1601 Error

I spent around 6-8 hours trying to restore one 3G model, and these errors occured, until once... (1601, 1602) when recovery was OK.

So frustrating that all of a sudden I successed & not knowing the reason...

Keep trying a little bit more...

3rd PC + XP & other(older) Itunes vers.

@ Darkman I don't quite follow? Are you saying just act stupid at the AppleStore and say it just doesn't turn on anymore so they assume its battery problem or something? Iv read this can be caused by a faulty motherboard anyways so its either a hardware issue or a software, but I woulda expected to get nothing out of the device if it was a Hardware issue but the sole fact that it will go into DFU and the computer will recognise the device baffles me!!

Thanks for the replies chaps, keep em coming I have the weekend to play with the device until I make the trip to the apple store!!

You Have Two Solutions For This Problem!

1st :- Try LimeRa1n Again in DFU Mode
2nd :- Use New iTune with New Firmware to Rewrite Recovery BootLoader

Best Wishes for Your Device

Thanks for your reply! - I have tried L1merain whilst its in DFU and it hangs in L1merain (But thats because its failing to get into recovery mode to flash with new firmware (hence the 1601 error in iTunes)

As regards to TinyUmbrella, If I put the device in DFU mode, it doesn't seem to recognise it? Maybe im doing something wrong with TinyUmbrella?

Thanks for the replies!!
