me too. I´ve already changed the battery and used the "ipsw" posted here, but still i have error -1.

Bro Its Baseband chip error and u cant fix with change cable or battery etc , i did have this problem , i did dissemble the phone for couple of week , after assemble phone did ok ,,i sell after that,

Just my 2 cents that worked for me using a 4S with error -1.
Try this... it will work out:
1. Download latest Redsnow from oficial site: (I am not allowed to post link)
2. Download ipsw for your iPhone 4S from iClarified site: (I am not allowed to post link)
3. Open Redsnow>Extras>Even more>Preferences and Clear cache
4. Go Back and choose Restore
5. Click on IPSW and choose latest IPSW for your iPhone 4S and let it go all the way accepting all choices...
and... voilá!
It is done.

hi friends, i read all post of -1 error.but i experinced about it is a hardware problem.i got one 4s oonly 15 days old.only searching.....when i saw its modem and imei is gone.after that when i tried to restore it it gives me an erro -1.stuck on recovery mode. i tried a lot but not success.4s is differnt from 4g.4s not return back from recovery mode. yes it possible that someone suceess after change battery,direct restore from itunes,etc etc.but most of type i think it is hardware problem.may be or maybe not.

iphone 4s error-1....try to restore the phone with windows 7 nt xp....and strong internet connection..it works for me

I been doing the same too, sometimes I change the battery and charger flex and it works, sometimes it don't.

i finaly done my iphone 4s error -1

1. i changed data cable

2. i changed battery

3. i changed datacable flex

4. changed power flex

5 reheating bb chip

finaly i changed internet connetion with difrrent ip and restored succesfully...
