Smartphone unlocking illegal under DCMA from 2013

Yes the dumb carriers are using DMCA to make unlocking smartphones illegal from 2013. I am sure that will do down well hope everyone stops buying contract phones from carriers who lock them and hit them where it hurts.

So, does it mean that I won't be able to unlock an iPhone by IMEI when 2013 arrives? Or this law is related to software unlocking? By IMEI unlocking I'm paying to the carrier itself...

Please, clarify.

Thanks!
