For those who have trouble unlocking att iphones

Its very important for all people who trying to restore and unlock their iphones after they have it unlocked
to make sure the AT&T iphone is activated by any ATT Sim,
you must see 1st activation date: when you check your imei
if you see first activation date in imei check, then your good to go, restore thru i tunes
if you don't see 1st activation date on imei checker, means your iphones hasn't been activated , you must use restore your iPhone insert att sim card
then restore again and insert any other sim as u wish
good luck !

friend u say, restore iphone with att sim. of course must be active and valid SIM CARD, how it's possible ? example, ur in Lebanon ok ? ur brother send u iphone from USA with unlock from Apple Inc. after 2 years u need to restore ur iphone from Apple server by iTunes ( not update, i mean it restore ). now where u found active and valid ATT SIM CARD ??? and it's fact after restore u found phone is locked and need Active and valid SIM for unlock.

So, forget everything . For that in like our country always DONE Jailbreak and unlock.

and last what's others opinion ? thanks.

with best regards,
mahir

i don't think you got my point !
simple i meant ATT iphones must be activated before you unlock them
unlocking att these days as cheap as peanuts now, and who in the world doesn't have att sim,
also ATT sim doesn't have to be active, can be 10 years old it will works to activate

as fadi said. Dont send iphone for factory unlock(this counts for AT&T and maybe for some other carriers too) if it is not activated before ( for example always been hacktivated!!). This disturbs the activation process after factory unlock.
Somehow the imei isnt moved properly in the database of apple. This results in an iphone unlocked on database but CAN NOT BEING USED , because it doesnt activate.

So be aware all ! check your iphone if activated on database of apple before sending for unlock Especially AT&T!

thanks fadi bringing this on the forum...and hope safe some guys some headaches.

iNemesis_d, First thanks to you, for pointing this up to me in the first place--
I didnt post this to forum, untill i made sure that 100% of ATT iphones , whos giving failing unlocking process through itunes are not activated,
so thought of posting it here as it could save an iphone if its activated

same problem today, did a factory unlock iphone 4 locked to ATT, customer had troubles activating it..
had a lot of jailbreak tweaks, and it was using with gevey 03.10.01 bb..(furios mode etc..)

didnt touch the bb, made a clean restore with that same BB, on same ios 5.1.1..just for case, that can be used with gevey, if anything goes wrong..with ifaith...SSH saved before

just clean restore, no hactivate , nothing...set up as new iphone, the only way to get it right way factory unlocked for first time..

10 minutes all the procedure, just for info..

all the best

i applied for 3 unlocks. 2 ATTs (both iphone4) and one 02uk(3GS) .the three had issues activating thru iTunes. after 3 days, i suggested to d 3gs guy to downgrade d bb and do a full restore to 601 before connecting iTunes. he was successful.

Now the 2 iphone4 locked to ATT still refuse to activate. one has never been activated and d other was activated and has been using gevey sim. both have restored to full ios601 without reserving baseband and still getting activation error message. dont know what else to do. kindly help with more suggestions

well i have a solution but may not work for all ! unless you have real information about the iphone
I have called APPLE CARE and told them about an iphone that not doing activation or unlocking by itunes
they asked me 10s of question about phone number and real owner and all that
they asked me to do a restore and try in 24 hrs again
and it works
i think they do a reset for the imei and or force it in the unlocking server
some how it works.
but i understand not all guys have real info
