Hi! I will soon get an Iphone 4 locked to AT&T and the phone was purchased middle of August. I have read about that newer Iphone 4 cannot be bypassed using an activation sim card, is that true? Then how will I jailbreak and unlock this phone? I am living in Sweden...

A. Some newer AT&T iPhone 4 are pre registered to AT&T and cannot be bypassed, if in doubt do not buy !!

yes,i got such phone.
also the hacktivation patch did not work.

i needed to get original simcard to activate it.
but after it is activated it can be used with other sim cards after unlocking...

that was with one of my iphone 4.

i have "one sim" and i never came across this problem, but i do keep sim cards from other countries, and thank you for advising members about this issue.

i think this problem can be solved with phonebook or testsimcards witch can be reprogrammed with other networkcode.

i dont have tested this, but it should work, because you can make the simcard like original one if you dont have it.

i tryed with the one iphone4 many different tricks... also lockdown folder patch adn hacktivation match, but no way, witouth same network code it was not possible for me to activate it.

lockdown patch or hacktivation patch (both are the same) works with all 2g, 3g, 3gs but not with all iphone 4.

Thank you for fast replies. So I need to get the original simcard. Can i activate with an used AT&T sim card from my friend? Or do I need to buy a new one? She has bought the Iphone 4 for me at the local apple store.

I have read about activation sim card form too but it seems that new Iphone 4 must activate with the original sim cards for the first time...

Anytime a brand new iPhone 4 is activated for the very first time and only that very first time, it can only be activated using the information supplied during the purchase such as the purchasers phone number, last four of the social and the billing zip.

You would have to get with the owner and see if he van supply that info so that you can activate the phone.

Anytime that phone is restored after that first activation, it can be activated using any sim card and info from anyone else.

This is to try and prevent people from selling the phone after purchase but as we have seen, it hasn't and then we get people like the OP who can't activate their eBay purchased phone."

yes.. you must look that it was already one time activated because of special registration needed!

like you sayed, the bill number...

but after this is done, you can activate it with any at&t simcard.

Oh so she has to registry the phone with her info, any bad for her?

After that I will buy an activation sim card from fonefunshop and jailbreak it in Sweden =)

One more question, If my friend has an Iphone 4 on contract, can I borrow her sim card and activate my Iphone 4 with that and her zip/bill etc? Then remove the sim card to activate the phone with an activation sim for usage in Sweden.
