Your advise on a strange iOS 4.3.5 after previous 5.0.1 update then restore

Hi experts,
I wanted to ask for your advise:
I bought an iPhone 4 which was restored to 4.3.5 with baseband 4.10.01. My plan was to unlock using Gevey and wait for the untethered + unlock of iOS 5.
After loading it in TinyUmbrella the only saved SHSH i received on the screen is "5.0.1 (9A405) .. ".
Again - the phone "About" screen claims 4.3.5 with baseband 4.10.01 - i checked with the previous owner and he did upgrade to 5.0.1 before wiping the phone to sell it to me.

I jailbroke tethered using Redsnow and tried Gevey - which didnt work (I assume because of the 5.0.1 past).

Now I am faced with a choice:
1. Upgrade to 5.0.1 using iTunes and sell the phone
2. Wait for hopefully an unlock of the 4.10.01 baseband (and hope that the 5.0.1 past wouldnt cause troubles with the future unlock)
3. anything else ?

I love the Iphone 4 (arent we all) and not sure what I should do. What would you recommend ?

Thanks in advanced !!!

E

Firstly, if you are still on 4.3.5, then you need to save the blobs for that firmware to allow you to downgrade if you want to in the future.
Secondly if you are upgrading to 5.0.1 then you need to use a custom restore to preserve your baseband as they gevey sim will not work on new baseband.

It doesnt matter what firmware was in there in the past, as long as you are on 4.3.5 with 4.10 baseband then the gevey will work. If it doesnt then the gevey may be fasulty.

Are you following the gevey 'setup' instructions? which gevey is it? normal. supreme, ultra??

Thanks cowen1000. So when I used TinyUmbrella to save the blobs, look at what Tiny saved (attached). Why wouldnt it show 4.3.5 ?

So I went to a shop and they had Gevey Ultra I believe. I had the expert there try it, she tried 3 different Geveys, which didnt work. We tried my SIM with a Gevey on another phone, and it did work. After 1 hour of trying she gave up.
I would love it to work, really want the iPHone 4 but this one seems strange with the 5.0.1 history..
What do you think ?

Thanks

My friend. You can't save SHSH for 4.3.5 this way.
The reason is very simple - apple does not sign 4.3.5 any more. You can only save SHSH for 5.0.1 but anyway if 5.0.2 is released you can't restore to 5.0.1, cause SHSH blobs method doesn't work for iOS 5.

The are 2 ways to save 4.3.5 shsh:
1. using latest redsn0w and then upload them to saurik's server.
2. using iFaith

Thanks zeezoo. I actually used Cydia on my device, but it says "this device is in the pending TTS queue".
I will downlad iFaith and try that. I did try redsn0w and it says I have 4.3.5 blobs, and that it was submitted to Cydia..

zeezoo: I tried iFaith 1.3.2 and it says "unsupported iOS detected, aborting" or something like that. After reading it seems it will not support 4.3.5 ?
Thanks for your help.

"Cydia on your device" works the same way like tiny-umbrella. Saves SHSH for the latest iOS version which apple can sign.
Use redsn0w_win_0.9.9b8 - works better than iFaith imo

Ok I tried redsn0w - it took my phone to DFU mode, did it thing and said that it submitted my SHSH to Cydia servers.
I tried "fetching" related SHSH from Cydia but it didn't bring anything back - maybe the 4.3.5 blob is still in queue ?
Is there an option to save it locally as well in redSn0w ?

Thanks
E
