Little help with the F030 Model

Hello all,
My first post here at gsm forums! I've spent probably the last 6 or so hours studying up on the mountain of rubble that are china phones, and have become curious about my F030 Model China phone I just bought.
I was wondering, is it possible to flash this phone with new software with just the usb cable? I did read some post's mentioning the ringtone cable trick to serial connection is needed for the flashing earlier. After looking through engineering mode on the phone (*#3646633#) or (*#66#*), there is an option in the first engineering mode to set the UART to either UART 1, 2 or 3, none, or USB cable. I am wondering if this is relevant, or if simply the setting when the phone is plugged in asking if you want to use it for mass storage, com port, or pictbridge is what is needed to flash it. I have tried using it a couple of times with the com setting in a couple of flashtools (diff versions) to no avail. Always the "Unable to enumerate Com1" error.
Forgive me for asking, as I'm terribly new to china phones, but here is what I am curious about for you F030 Users pro's out there.

1. What program will I need to actually flash my F030?
2. What flash files exist for the F030 specifically right now?
3. Can flash the newer (sleeker) china phone software (perhaps not even on the F030 model originally), to the F030, as long as keeping a OS that is relevant for it's processor? (my assumption after reading my F030 sports around a 127mhz-209mhz processor tops, but not totally sure.)

I'd like to be able to change the bland menu and buttons/text on the phone to something a bit more sporty, as well as editing the button's and updating some of the programs on the phone instead of the existing rubbage. Great phone, plenty of juice it seems to toy around with.

PS. As for actual manufacturer, I have been unable to locate a branding whatsoever on my F030. I can tell ya it mimic's the Iphone3 model (shiny piano finish), is the GPS version, and sport's the following software :
